Late or non-payment of monthly subscription.
Removal of primary SIM card used at time of initial device setup.
Device is disconnected from the internet for an extended period of time.

How do you make sure my data is safe?

We only use your data to manage your relationship with Cinch and our services. Through Singpass we receive standard-format personal data including income information. We only use privacy and encryption protocols that are approved by Singpass. We take data privacy extremely seriously. To determine your eligibility for other devices, we consider your credit limit with us. We’re currently working on improvements to make your credit limit information more readily available. Can I use my phone overseas?

Yes, you can potentially use your phone overseas! However, there are a few things to consider: International roaming charges: Most phone plans don't cover data, calls, and texts abroad. Using your phone overseas without an international plan can lead to high roaming charges.Here are some ways to stay connected overseas without breaking the bank:Contact your carrier: Ask about international roaming plans or add-ons for your specific destination. Purchase a local SIM card: This allows you to use a local phone number and potentially cheaper data plans. For using an international SIM card with your device, we recommend inserting it into slot 2. Use Wi-Fi calling and messaging apps: Many apps like WhatsApp and Viber allow free calls and texts over Wi-Fi networks.

Are there any restrictions on downloading an application on the rental device?

You should be able to download any applications compatible with the rental device! We aim to provide open access for app downloads.

However, there could be some unforeseen circumstances that might limit downloads, such as:

Storage limitations: The rental device might have limited storage space, restricting the number of apps you can download.

Security protocols: Certain apps might not be compatible with the device's security settings for safety reasons.

However, any requests to end your subscription early or switch to a different model will be considered an early upgrade. This means an early termination/upgrade fee of RM350 will apply.

When do I pay the first month’s rent?

When placing your order please ensure you have sufficient funds in your card. Payment is made upon approval which can happen immediately after placing an order or up to 24 hours after.

When is my recurring monthly payment date?

Your initial payment will be processed upon approval of your order. Following that, subsequent payments will be scheduled monthly, aligning with the date of device delivery, and will be automatically charged using your selected payment method.

All subsequent subscription payments are made monthly from the date of the delivery of the product. You will only pay for the period you have the product.

Can I buy my rented device?

Yes you can purchase at anytime after you have started your subscription. The purchase price is dynamically calculated based on payments made and shown in your account page.

Can I purchase the device directly from the website instead of subscribing?

No, Cinch is a subscription model for consumer tech that provides you the flexibility to purchase after you have committed to a minimum subscription period.

However once you are subscribed you can purchase the device from your account page at any time. Purchase price is dynamically calculated to credit all monthly subscription payments into the purchase cost.

Can I cancel my order after placing an order?

If you change your mind about an order you just placed, you can cancel and return your product (in good condition and in the original packaging) within 3 days of receiving the order. What happens if I repeatedly miss my payments?

Important Notice: Cinch reserves the right to engage an external debt collection agency or institution for the recovery of outstanding amounts, including Early Termination Charges or Non-Return Fees. Any administrative fees and commissions payable to the external debt collection agency are the responsibility of the customer. Additionally, Cinch retains the right to initiate police reports when deemed necessary.

Consistent missed payments may adversely impact your credit score, affecting your eligibility for future loans. Cinch may pursue criminal and legal actions in such cases. Our primary aim is to avoid reaching such points in our interactions with subscribers. Your cooperation is vital in helping us achieve this objective.

What are the charges for repairs?

Cinch covers 90% of all repair costs due to accidental damage and 100% of natural wear and tear. In the event of theft, loss or wilful damage, you will be responsible for the full cost of the device at the prevailing retail price.

How long does repair takes?

The duration of the repair process can vary based on the specific condition of your device and the nature of the repairs required. Upon notification of device damage to our team, we will request for basic information such as pictures or videos of the damage and the events leading up to the issue. In certain cases, our team will instruct you to perform simple troubleshooting steps, which includes but not limited to factory reset, turning device off and on, disconnecting and reconnecting to Bluetooth, downloading updates etc.

For simpler issues, such as a screen replacement, it could be completed as quickly as within a day. However, if more extensive repairs, such as changing the motherboard or LCD screen, are needed, it may take up to 15 working days. We strive to complete repairs efficiently without compromising quality, and our team will provide you with a more accurate estimate after assessing the device. Rest assured, we aim to return your device to you as soon as possible

Could you provide instances of repairs that fall outside the coverage of the Cinch Damage Coverage?

Intentional damage and loss/theft are not covered by Cinch. In the event this happens, you will be responsible to pay the replacement cost of the device. If your device is damaged, don't worry – we’re here to help.

If we determine that there has been subject to water damage or the product is beyond repair due to serious damage, we will charge you the full retail price of the product. Please enjoy our product during your subscription period, but please don’t destroy it!

Can I change my chosen minimum rental period after I have received my device?

You have the option to extend or renew your subscription during the last month of your term. Moving forward, your monthly subscription rate will reflect that of the newly selected term. Unfortunately, you cannot shorten your subscription term without terminating your subscription. This can be done at any time after the initial 3-day return window. However, it is important to note that this will incur an early termination fee of RM350.

What happens if I lose my device or if it's stolen?

Unfortunately, we do not reimburse for theft or loss of devices. You will be responsible for paying the retail price to replace the device.

However, you may be able to get your own liability insurance that covers loss and theft. Ask your insurance provider about covering these costs for rented items.

What happens if my product is damaged, and what type of damages are covered by Cinch Damage Coverage?

We cover 100% of costs associated with natural minor wear and tear and any device errors from the manufacturers. Cinch Damage Coverage covers 90% of all repair and replacements costs due to accidental damage. This includes: - Broken display - Strong signs of wear and tear You will only be charged 10% of refurbishment costs resulting from such accidental damages.

Intentional damage and loss/theft are not covered by Cinch. In the event this happens, you will be responsible to pay the replacement cost of the device. If your device is damaged, don't worry – we’re here to help.

Just follow the following steps and we’ll have your device fixed up and back in your hands in no time.

Report damage to us within 48 hours.
We will arrange for the device to be collected from you.
The device will undergo several checks to assess damage.
We’ll look at multiple assessments, and charge you for the 10% of the repair cost.
Our repair partners will fix the device, check it thoroughly, and we’ll send it back to you.

If we determine that there has been water damage or the product is beyond repair due to serious damage, we will charge you the full retail price of the product. Please enjoy our product during your subscription period, but please don’t destroy it!

Question 47

Who is responsible for repairs to the device?

We manage all repairs on your device. If there is an issue, please contact us, we will collect the device and repair it. Since Cinch Damage Coverage covers 90% of the repair and logistics cost of accidental damages, we’ll only charge you for the remaining 10%. Please do not try to repair the device yourself or use your own repair service; we will not cover devices repaired by other parties.

Can I repair or modify my device by myself?

We appreciate the thought, but please do not do this. Because we try to keep our devices in the best condition for all the device’s owners, we only allow repairs and refurbishments done by the Cinch Repair Team. We do not accept the return of devices that have been repaired, modified or refurbished externally, and would require you to purchase the device from us.

I didn’t return, extend, or purchase my device, but my rental period has ended. What happens next?

If you did not take action, but the subscription term has ended, you will automatically be switched to a pay-as-you-go plan at the same monthly rate. You will still have the option to return the device, purchase it, or extend the subscription at any point.

Do I need to keep the original device box and accessories?

When subscribing to Cinch’s services, it is imperative to retain the original device box along with all accompanying accessories. There is a reasonable expectation that you will responsibly maintain the device, its original packaging, and accessories in good working condition. This is crucial as the device box and accessories play a vital role in the refurbishment process for our next user. In the event that the device box or accessories are damaged or lost upon returning the device, we will promptly notify you of the replacement fees via email, and charges will be applied accordingly.

How and when do I return the rented device?

To return your device, you need to cancel your subscription within the last 27 days of your subscription term. Before the last date of your subscription term, you must schedule a return with us to occur within 5 working days of the last day of your term. You will be charged pay-as-you-go in the following month should you choose to return the device later than the 5 day return window. Please ensure you have factory reset your device, and return it with its accessories in the original packaging. Failure to do so will incur a RM165 resetting fee.

You can find the return label in your account by: Go to My Account > My Active Subscription > Select the device > Select "Return" Please remember to:

Place the product with the accessories in the original packaging
Reset your device to factory conditions and ensure that all your data has been erased.

This way, we can rent the device safely to the next customer. Please stow the device safely in the original packaging and stick the label onto the box. Remember to send only 1 device per box. On the day of delivery, please be present to give the box to our courier. To avoid paying for another month, please make sure to not miss the pick-up. As soon as your box is processed by the delivery carrier, your monthly payments will be stopped. Your subscription ends when we get the product back and check that everything is okay.

How long does it take to refund my money?

If there’s a refund required, it will take approximately 5-10 business days for the amount to be reflected in your account. Please contact your bank directly should you have any questions regarding the refund as we do not have visibility on that.

I forgot to reset my device or delete my data. How can I ensure my data is safe?

If you forgot to reset your device before returning it to us, we will perform factory reset and data wipe immediately if device is returned without factory reset. However, be aware that there will be a charge of RM165 reset fee due to the additional work required on our end to factory reset the device. Every device undergoes a thorough check before it is sent to any customer. We never send out devices that have anyone’s personal data stored on it.

I threw away or damaged the original packaging of the device. How should I return my device?

If you threw away or damaged the original packaging, please pack it safely in a box of your choosing. There will be a charge of RM150 for missing or damaged packaging

After you return your device, it undergoes a thorough refurbishment process. After it passes our quality checks, we then find it a new home by renting it to another Cinch customer. Once a device has passed its usable life, we make sure it is recycled responsibly through our recycling partners.

How does the Online Trade-In Program work?

The Trade-In programme is provided by an independent third-party vendor ("Trade-in Vendor") which gives customers the opportunity to receive credit for trading in their Trade-in Device when they subscribe to a new device.

When you subscribe to a new device and decide to trade-in your Trade-in Device, we will provide you with an estimated Trade-in Value, based on the manufacturer, model, and the condition of the Trade-in Device as stated by you. Please note that the Trade-in Value quoted by the Trade-in Vendor is only valid at the point of quotation. It may be subject to change depending on the physical condition of the device.

Trade-In amount is not deducted until Trade-In is completed. At time of checkout, the customer pays the first month payment at regular undiscounted subscription rate, and after trade-in is completed either (A) the remaining months subscription will be at lower monthly rate after deducting trade-in from total remaining susbcription amount or (B) the Trade-in Value will be transferred to you if a cashback option was selected.

Once you have completed checkout for the subscription of your new device, you will receive an e-mail and SMS from the Trade-in Vendor to arrange for your Trade-in device pick-up within one (1) business day. Customers are required to arrange for the Trade-in Device to be collected within three (3) business days from receipt of the new device. On the day of collection, before taking in your Trade-in Device, the Trade-in Vendor will perform a device diagnostics test to verify the condition of your Trade-in Device and assess the final Trade-in Value. You will need to surrender your Trade-in Device to the Trade-in Vendor upon successful verification of your Trade-in Device. Once your Trade-in Device is received by the Trade-in Vendor, a trade-in completion e-mail and SMS will be sent to you. Please retain your trade-in completion e-mail and SMS for at least one (1) year for records and verification purposes (where required).

Note that the minimum Monthly Subscription Rate allowed is RM30. Therefore, discounted subscription rate will be limited to minimum of RM30 a month after deducting Trade-In value. Any excess Trade-In value unused will be credited as Cinch Credits. Customers may use Cinch Credits to pay against a second subscription or to pay for monthly payments after subscription term is completed.

If there are discrepancies in the actual and declared condition of your Trade-in Device as declared by you in the online questionnaire, the courier staff may not proceed with the collection of the old device. Either (A) trade-in will be cancelled and subscription will remain at regular undiscounted rate OR (B) trade-in will be completed and the remaining monthly payment will be recalculated based on deducting actual trade-in amount from the total remaining subscription amount. In the event that Trade-In is cancelled or not completed in time (within 20 days of subscription), no deduction will be applied to subscription and remaining payments will be at the regular undiscounted subscription rate.

What devices are eligible for trade-in?

Trade-in is only applicable to an eligible list of smartphones, tablets and smartwatches. The list of such eligible devices and their trade-in values are subject to change by Cinch at its discretion from time to time.

No, you will not be eligible for Cinch’s return policy after you have completed Trade-In.

Do note that the Trade-in Device will not be returned to you once your trade-in transaction is completed.

The Trade-in Value is determined by the model type and condition of the Trade-in Device, subject to physical assessment done by the Trade-in Vendor at the point of collection.

Device screen having cracks / coloured lines / discolouration or coloured hues
Device has a bloated battery
Device front or back camera not functioning / black spots on captured images
Device having more than 2 dents from the front and back of the body, more than 5 scratches each on front screen and back cover, bends, and cracks around the device body

This is the list of defects / situations that will render your device to not be eligible for trade-in:

Device that is damaged (unable to turn on) not functioning
Device screen not functioning
Device buttons / slots / sensors (including fingerprint sensor & face ID) do not work
All accounts (including iCloud/Google/Passcode/Pattern unlocked) cannot be logged out from device.
Device is stolen.

You will need to remove all of your device’s security locks (password pattern / pin / password / biometrics / Find my mobile / Gmail account / Samsung account / iCloud / AndroidTM or Google Smart Lock / Carrier activation locks) prior to handing over your Trade-in Device to the Trade-in Vendor.
